NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. George Michael Viator, age 65, at 10:00 am Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Nativity of our Lady Catholic Church with Fr. Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Monday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Tuesday until service time.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Viator passed away at 11:00 pm on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Iberia Medical Center.
Mr. Viator proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was an U.S Army service member.
Mr. Viator enjoyed playing golf and bowling. He was a member of the New Iberia Bowling League where he had the distinction of serving as president. Mr. Viator loved the LSU Tigers and would often go to any sporting events they were playing. George also loved his ten year old beagle-hound mix, Skud. In addition to his wife, Keren, whom he has been with since the 6th grade, he will be deeply missed by all those he knew and loved.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Keren Vice Viator; daughters, Christine V. Couvillon (Brian) and Yvonne V. Fontenot (Cody); father, Louis “Pie” Viator, Jr.; grandchildren, Morgan Elizabeth Couvillon, Baylee Michelle Couvillon, and Ethan James Fontenot; brother, Chester Mark Viator; and sister, Mary Lorraine.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Vivian Marie Bodin.
Pallbearers will be John Terrel, Johnathon, Terrell, Cody Fontenot, Brian Couvillon, and Wayne Cestia.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chester Viator.
