NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Gene Antoine Hulin, age 62, at 11:00 am Friday May 21, 2010 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Broussard with Fr. Louis Richard officiating. Interment will be held at Sacred Heart Mausoleum with military honors.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Friday until service time.
A native of New Iberia and resident of Broussard, Mr. Hulin passed away on Tuesday May 18, 2010.
Gene was a US Veteran of the Marine Corps Reserve. He was the former owner and Instructor of Acadiana Institute of Karate in New Iberia. Mr. Hulin was also a co-owner of Freezo Restaurant in New Iberia for many years. He loved gardening, working in his yard, and was a big LSU fan. His grandchildren were the greatest joy and he loved spending time with them. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathleen “Kathy” Thibodeaux Hulin of Broussard, daughters, Tessa Hulin Cancienne and husband Ray of Spring, TX and Julie Hulin Suarez and husband Jason of New Iberia; grandchildren, Emily and Christian Cancienne and Luke and Jaci Suarez; brother, Paul Hulin and wife Helen of Morgan City; and sisters, Dorothy H. Trahan of Kaplan and Marie H. Fromenthal and husband William “Billy” of Berwick.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Shannie Elizabeth; and parents, Albert and Marie Landry Hulin.
Pallbearers will be Perry Bonin, Coby Gibbons, David Munnerlyn, Sr., Jason Gaspard, David Hulin, and David Munnerlyn, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Albert Hulin and Wayne Brossette.
