Born on September 30, 1969, in Terrebonne Parish, Eric was the cherished son of Gloria Ortego Saintes and Bert Marvin Ducote. A graduate of New Iberia Senior High in 1987, Eric went on to open and operate City Glass in St. Martinville for 32 years, where he built a reputation for quality work and integrity.
Eric was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his wife, Christine, and their children. He had a passion for camping, cooking, and cherished weekends at their camp in Lake Fausse Point, where he was known for using his handyman skills to construct a houseboat. His family fondly reminisced about his funny antics and his readiness to fix anything they needed.
An avid motorcycle enthusiasts, Eric and Christine enjoyed riding their Harley Davidson motorcycles, traveling across the lower 48 states and creating countless memories on the open road. He was a proud member of the Cajun Hog Harley Davidson Group of Scott, where he formed lasting friendships with fellow riders.
Eric’s warm smile, generous spirit, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Christine Ducote; three children, Caleb Michael King and wife Stephanie; Jordan Thomas Ducote and Kirsten Elizabeth Ducote; two grandchildren, Audrey King and Demi King; his mother, Gloria Ortego Saintes; his father, Bert Marvin Ducote; one brother Vincent Ducote and wife Elaine and one sister, Marie Ducote Comeaux and husband Michael.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James and Ivy Fontenot Ortego; paternal grandparents, Bert and Marie Ducote and his stepfather, Harold Bernard “Benny” Saintes, Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024, at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Keith Landry officiating. Eric will be laid to rest at Nativity of Our Lady Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Sunday, November 3, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm by the Men’s Rosary Group. The funeral home will reopen on Monday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Caleb Michael King, Jordan Thomas Ducote, Nick Delcambre, Jason Daigle, Vincent Ducote, and Taylor Ducote. Michael Comeaux, Eric Provost, Dylan Ducote and James “Jimmy” Saintes are honorary pallbearers.
