Elizabeth Aucoin Castille, age 91, born on April 18, 1933, in New Iberia, Louisiana to the late Lester Cornelius and Rita Buteau Aucoin. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her loved ones.
A devout Catholic and a long-time member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Elizabeth was a woman of deep faith and prayer. Her powerful prayers and unwavering devotion to God were a cornerstone of her life. Elizabeth's presence in the church and her dedication to her faith left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Elizabeth shared many cherished memories with her beloved husband, enjoying travels to Europe after their retirement. Their journeys were a highlight of her life, and she took great joy in collecting religious icons, which her family will continue to treasure for generations.
For many years, Elizabeth and her husband, Harris Anthony Castille, proudly owned and operated Harris Castille, Inc. in New Iberia, a testament to their hard work and commitment to the community.
At home, Elizabeth was often found in her favorite chair, covered with her beloved Braves blanket, engrossed in Braves baseball. Her passion for the game was infectious, and she enjoyed every moment spent cheering for her team.
Family was at the heart of Elizabeth's life, and she adored her great-grandchildren. She had an extraordinary memory and never missed an opportunity to remember the birthdays of her loved ones. Every birthday was celebrated with a phone call, where she would sing her signature rendition of "Happy Birthday," ensuring that her family felt loved and cherished.
Elizabeth's legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She is survived by her loving children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and countless extended family members and friends who will remember her kindness, faith, and devotion.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Mark Anthony Castille and wife Roxanne; Karl Castille, Sr., and wife Melinda and Wanda Castille Laper; seven grandchildren, Brooke Touchet, Kayla Arceneaux, Ashley Switzer, Amber Breaux, Karl “K.C.” Castille, Jr., Britany Foret and Kelsey Castille; fourteen great grandchildren and one brother, Cornelius “Cannon” Aucoin, Jr. and wife Julianne.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harris Anthony Castille; son in law, Britt Laper; niece, Shawn Aucoin and nephew, Neil Aucoin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 1:00 pm at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. Nathan Comeaux officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a rosary at 6:30 pm at Evangeline Funeral Home. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Friday until 12:30 pm.
Members of the family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
