Edward proudly served his country as a Navy Sea Bee during the Vietnam Era, earning respect for his dedication and service. Following his military career, he worked as a construction mechanic for Morton Salt Mine, where he dedicated nearly 40 years before retiring.
Edward had a love for the outdoors, finding joy in hunting, fishing, and working on cars. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, offering his mechanic skills to friends and family free of charge. A man of many talents, he was a self-taught artist with a passion for painting, particularly landscapes, birds, and boats.
His memory will live on through his family, friends, and the many lives he touched.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Lauren Hebert Salkowitz, one son, Jason Salkowitz, one daughter, Daliela Salkowitz and Joey Dore’ and one brother, Kurt Salkowitz.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Tanna Salkowitz Romero and two brothers, Russell Salkowitz and David Salkowitz.
A memorial service will be held privately at a later date.
