NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Derek John Bush, age 26, at 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Deacon Chris Doumit officiating. Interment will follow at Beau Pre Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm on Monday with a Rosary at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Tuesday until service time.
A native of Montgomery, Alabama and resident of Lafayette, Derek passed away on Friday, January 17, 2014 at Regional Medical Center of Acadiana.
Derek was always happy and upbeat, kind, giving and considerate. He was great with kids and adored his nephews and all children. An intelligent computer nerd and hard worker, Derek enjoyed playing computer. His fiancée, Ashley, was the love of his life. His smile will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his mother, Dawn LeCamus Bush of New Iberia; fiancée, Ashley DeRouen of Lafayette and their baby on the way; sister, Devin Lewis and husband David of Scott; grandmother, Gladys Riley of New Iberia; sister-in-law, Andrea “A.J.” Menard; aunt, Janelle Gonsoulin and husband Benny; uncles, Kurt LeCamus and Marty LeCamus; cousins, Storie Gonsoulin, Braedon Gonsoulin, Brandt Gonsoulin, Martie LeCamus, and Kolin LeCamus; nephews, Drake Lewis, Dylan Menard, Ryan Menard, Dayton Lewis, and Tristan Menard; dog, Joy; and cat, Ninja.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Wayne Menard and maternal grandfather, Skerty LeCamus.
Pallbearers will be Justin Hoeber, Bruce DuBois, Storie Gonsoulin, Braedon Gonsoulin, Brandt Gonsoulin, David Lewis and Dustin Menard.
Drake Lewis, Dylan Menard, Ryan Menard, Dayton Lewis and Tristan Menard will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help cover funeral expenses.
