Delores was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was married to Curtis J. Broussard for 71 years and was the heart of their family, lovingly guiding and supporting them through the years. Delores was also a dedicated professional, retiring from the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Department after 33 years of service, where she worked under the leadership of Sheriffs Wattigny, Romero, and Hebert. Earlier in her life, she also sold Avon door-to-door, forging many lifelong friendships along the way.
Her family fondly remembers her as an exceptional cook, particularly known for her Cajun specialties. Delores’ crawfish étouffée and turtle sauce picante were signature dishes that brought comfort and joy to all who were lucky enough to sit at her table.
In her free time, Delores loved visiting the casino, camping, and vacationing with friends, but her greatest joy came from dancing. She and Curtis shared many happy memories of their dancing days, including winning an all-expenses-paid three-week vacation to France—a trip they cherished.
Above all, Delores was deeply proud of her role as a wife, mother, and matriarch, always putting family first. Her beautiful smile and kind heart will forever be remembered by all who knew her. She has earned her place in heaven, and though she will be missed, the family looks forward to the day they will be reunited with her. Until then, they take comfort knowing she rests in peace.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 71 years, Curtis J. Broussard; her children, Darlene Prince (Allen Segura) of Lydia, Leah Kern (Kent) of Jeanerette, and Wendell Broussard (Mary) of New Iberia; her grandchildren, Paul Prince (Sheree), Tera Romero (Clay), Jamie Marcel (Marcus), Ashley Saintes (Brandon), Kelly Migues (Michael), and Madison Martin (Hunter); 14 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Shirley Falgout of Lydia.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Oleus and Clara LeBlanc Boudreaux; her siblings, Mae Guillot, Linda Hebert, and Chester Boudreaux; her son-in-law, Larry Prince; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Boudreaux Verrett.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, with Fr. Randy Courville officiating. Following the mass, she will be laid to rest at St. Nicholas Mausoleum in Patoutville.
