Debbery “Debby” Leet Hebert, our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and dear friend passed away peacefully Friday, October 21, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. At her passing she was 73.
Debby, as she was affectionately called, was born December 26, 1948 in Jeanerette to the late Valcour E. Leet, Jr. and the late Enola Broussard Leet and was one of five children born to that union.
As a business person in Jeanerette, Debby and her family owned and operated several businesses; Hebert’s Grocery, Hebert’s Texaco, and several firework stands from New Iberia to Franklin. She also worked for many years with Jeanerette Mills.
Outside of her work, Debby enjoyed her favorite pastimes of quilting, baking and cooking, and reading her Bible. Her children also shared of their mothers love for shopping and visiting the antique shops. Whether she bought something or just walked around, it brought her joy. Her greatest love, above all else, was her family. Debby absolutely loved a family get-together sharing barbeque, boiled seafood or their favorite Cajun dish, and of course a good laugh. Debby had the kindest smile and most infectious laugh of anyone. She loved to be happy and bring that same happiness to all around her. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Bonnie Judith Venable, Barrow Hebert (Crystal Ramirez), and Lucky Elizabeth Hebert Garbarino (Ryan Garbarino); her grandchildren, Dane Legnon, Samuel Galetskas, Devin Galetskas, Brittney Cummins, Matthew Freeman, Kayela Hebert, Michelle Bourque, Brittany Bourque and Kevin Standiford; her great grandchildren, Taegan, Mallory and Madison Bourque, Bailey, Owen and Jackson Cummins, Lucas and Layla Legnon, and Hazzlee, Lane and Haven Galetskas; and her brother, Clyde Paul Leet (Anita Leet).
Along with her parents, Debby was preceded in death by her sister, Enola “Sis” Leet Pellerin, Valcour E. “Son” Leet, III.
