NEW IBERIA - Darryl James Theriot, age 62, of New Iberia, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, love, and cherished memories. Born in New Iberia to Jeanette Robicheaux Theriot and Joseph "Chip" Theriot, Darryl's life was a testament to dedication and commitment to his family and his profession.
Darryl found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in hunting and fishing. A true outdoorsman at heart, he reveled in the tranquility of nature and the thrill of the hunt. His passion for his work in the oil field was unparalleled, having dedicated his entire career to the industry. Starting alongside his father straight out of high school, he worked his way up to become a respected consultant, admired for his work ethic and expertise.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Darryl was a man of many talents. He took pleasure in cooking for his loved ones, often showcasing his culinary skills during gatherings with family and friends. His children and grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Darryl is survived by his children: Joseph "Joey" Theriot (Jessica), Dr. Jordan Theriot, Danielle Theriot, his stepdaughters: Norma Jean Gallardo, Priscilla Gonzalez (Ronnie), and his sister Shelley Hammond (Carl). For 21 years, Darryl shared his life with the love of his life, Margaret "Maggie" Ramirez, who brought him immense happiness and companionship. Darryl also leaves behind five adored grandchildren, whose presence brought him immense joy and pride.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph "Chip" Theriot and Jeanette Robicheaux Theriot, his brother, Dwayne Theriot, and his beloved dog, Sam.
A visitation to honor Darryl's life will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 1:45 PM at Evangeline Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, also at Evangeline Funeral Home.
In accordance with his wishes, Darryl will be cremated and laid to rest privately at a later date.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Theriot, Dr. Jordan Theriot, Jude Johnson, Blair Rivette, Sherwood Guillot, Terry Willis, Carl Hammond, and C.J Hammond.
Darryl's kindness, dedication, and love will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the eternal beauty of the outdoors he so cherished.
