Brandon Donald Roberts, beloved son, brother, and friend went home to be with the Lord on February 27, 2024. Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on August 5, 1980, and raised in Salinas, California, Brandon moved to New Iberia, Louisiana with his family at the age of 9. He attended Assembly Christian School and graduated in 1998, where he gained lifelong friends.
As an adult, he moved to Lafayette, Louisiana, and fell in love with fitness. The gym became his second home and working out became a passion. He spent most of his life as a physical fitness trainer/instructor. In this line of work, he was able to meet so many people and impact so many lives. His kind smile and genuine nature caused anyone who was trained by him to consider him a dear friend. If anyone knew Brandon, they knew that he loved Freedom, Fitness, and Firearms. From a young age, he developed a deep interest in weaponry. As a boy, he loved to put on his fatigues, grab his pellet gun, and crawl through the sugar cane fields behind his grandparents’ house practicing tactical maneuvers (with his dog, Lady, by his side). That never changed. He loved to go to the “Creek” and run different courses designed to hone his shooting skills. After many years of training, he was an expert marksman. He also helped train others to be better and safer shooters.
Known affectionately to most of his friends as “Rooster”, he enjoyed camping trips, 4-wheel rides, shooting adventures, and lots of fun, memory-making times. He loved the Lord and partnered with multiple ministries including Faith Cathedral World Outreach Center and The Cowboy Church of New Iberia. Out of all his passions, he loved his family most of all. He was a devoted son, brother, and dog dad. He was extremely funny and truly the life of any party. He made the ordinary, extraordinary. He made the bad times good. He brought joy to sad situations. He was a hero in tragedy. He was courageous, strong, beautiful, kind, loving, supportive, faithful, and ferocious. His favorite scripture is 1 Corinthians 15:55: “Where, O death is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” As he walks the streets of glory today, he testifies to the truth of these words. Though his journey on Earth is done, he will forever be an inspiration to those who knew him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving parents; Sabrina and Duane Giroir; his baby sister, Brianna Chreene and husband, Caleb; his precious dog and faithful companion of 11 years, Zoe; his uncle, Don Michael Roberts; best friends Ben and Jill Starks; best friend Rebekah Boudreaux; grandparents, Lawrence and Theresa Giroir; aunt, Krystal Armstrong and husband Darre; and his Dad Richard Onorato and wife Sylvia of Salinas, California
He was preceded in death by both maternal grandparents, Donald and Irene Roberts; and beloved uncle, Patrick Roberts. He is now reunited with his Nanny, Papo, Uncle Pat, Lady Bug, and Lilly Puppy.
