Barbara Bayliss Weeks

NEW IBERIA – A Memorial of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mrs. Edward T. “Ned” Weeks, III, the former Barbara “B” Bayliss, age75, at 2:00 pm Thursday, November 19, 2015 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Fr. Nicholas DuPre’ officiating. Interment will be held privately at a later date.

Barbara passed away on Monday, November 16, 2015 in Jeanerette, Louisiana. Born in Baytown, Texas on July 16, 1940, Barbara moved to New Iberia in 1961 as the bride of Edward T. Weeks, III, her husband of 54 years. She was an active, fun-loving wife and mother to their three children, engaged in civic and social organizations, traveled the world, and read voraciously. She ultimately cooked, fished, sewed, and entertained her way through a wonderfully rich life.

Barbara is survived by her husband Ned, their children, Patricia Weeks (John Gonzalez) of New Orleans, Mary Kay Walk (Wesley) of Diamondhead, Mississippi, and Edward T. Weeks, IV (Jody) of Baton Rouge, and their eight grandchildren, Sofia and Elise Gonzalez, Austin, Mitchell and Rebecca Walk, and Anna, Lauren, and David Weeks.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lillian Walters Bayliss.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Barbara’s name to Second Harvest Food Bank of Acadiana, 215 East Pinhook, Lafayette, LA 70501.
