My sincerest condolences (belated) on the passing, into God's Eternal Memory, of this truly remarkable and gentle man (in the truest sense).
Mr. Laga was my social studies teacher during my junior high school days at William Cowper JHS (73) in Maspeth, Queens.  This was back in 1974 and I was only 13 years, but he made an indelible impression on me.
I still remember my first day of class with him.....he began with a discussion of Toscanelli's map.  I recall that he was a kind and very patient man who always brought out the best in people.
I'm sure we gave him a hard time as young teens are often wont to do, but he never lost his composure or temper.....I can still remember his patented "pipe down" expression.
In the course of the year, we got to know him personally as he often related to us his life's experiences.  We learned about his days on the ballfield and his military service in WW 2 to our beloved country.  I also recall him relaxing in the teacher's lounge, smoking his pipe (when it was still fashionable to smoke).......so many things  that have never left me........some people you never forget!
I will always remember him fondly and with love and will always keep all of you in my prayers.
I am very happy to learn that he had such a long and full life.
May our Lord Christ grant him peace and blessed repose!

I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Laga, but I saw him through the eyes of his beloved daughter Loretta.  Their special, caring and loving relationship spoke endlessly of his wonderful nature, his amazing parenting skills and his strong moral compass.
I'd like to extend my sympathies to all of his family.  May their sadness soon make room for happy and warm memories.

To my first Valentine and teacher I love you with all of my heart!  You made a difference.  You treated people with gentleness, dignity and had the ability to see the good in people.  You always kept the golden rule: do unto others as you would have them do unto you (Matt. 7:12).  Please continue to watch over us.  Love and Prayers Always

To the entire Laga Family, I want to send my deepest sympathies for the loss of a nice man, Mr. Frank Laga. Mr. Laga was a kind soul who I respected very much as I knew him from my childhood growing up around the corner on Campbell St. To Rob, Rich and Loretta, I wish you guys all the best and keep the faith that you will see your Dad once again in a better life to come. RIP, Mr.Laga!

I first met Frank as a young 22 year old teacher in the South Bronx in 1968. He always took an interest in me and when we both came to I.S.73 he and I would forge an    unbreakable relation that would last for almost 50 years. We played cards together   We talked about bowling, sports, and anything else that was on our minds. We spoke daily after we both retired. He was like a second father to me. I will miss him dearly. R.I.P Frank..Teree and I will never forget you.
