Sandra Fae Kamish passed away peacefully on January 12th at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN surrounded by the love and comfort of her children. She was 74 years old. Sandy was born June 24, 1948, in Amery, WI, to James and Veradell Christensen. She was baptized and confirmed in Cushing, WI. Sandy graduated from St. Croix Falls High School in 1967. After graduation, her first job was as a copywriter in St. Paul, MN. At that time, her future husband Larry was also working in the Twin Cities and carpooling with Sandy’s father. This is where the love connection began and the couple started dating. Larry and Sandy were married March 22, 1969, at St. John’s Lutheran Church. The couple lived in St. Paul until 1975, where they also expanded their family with the birth of two children, Kim Allan in 1972; and Kelly Ann in 1973. In 1975, the Kamish family moved to Centuria, WI where Sandy became a full time stay at home mom. In January 1980, they welcomed their third child, Kevin James, into the family. In 1989 Sandy went back to school to receive her Child Care Certificate and began working at Peace Place Child Care Center; eventually opening her own licensed in home daycare in 1991. She went on to operate Sandy’s Family Daycare for over 20 years. This quote best sums up Sandy’s influence on the families she served: “the impact (Sandy) has had on the lives of so many children will live on forever. I couldn’t have asked for a better place for my children while I was at work and always consider that her parenting was a part of my children’s success.” Sandy enjoyed sewing, quilting and scrapbooking. Upon retirement, Sandy loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She also very much enjoyed all of her adventures with her lifelong best friends, Dianne and Maxine, the trio called themselves “The Golden Girls”. Sandy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Larry; her parents, James and Veradell Christensen; father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Julia Kamish. Sandy is survived by sons, Kim (Traci) Kamish and Kevin (Stacy) Kamish; daughter, Kelly Kamish; grandchildren, Keegan Grace, Larysa Faith, Evan Michael, Nicholas James, Nathan William, Alexa Marie, Jordin Nichole, Olivia Grace, Lucas Allan, Mollee Jo, and Colbee Ann.
