He lived most his entire life in the same neighborhood.
At 14, he applied for a job at Radio City Theatre, but they would not hire him because he was too young. The next day at the State Theatre, he told them he was 16. He was hired and started there immediately! Thus began his lengthy movie theatre career. (A total of 70 years).
Robert graduated from DeLaSalle High School in 1948. He joined the US Air Force in 1950, serving four years. It included one year of service in Korea. Following discharge, he attended St. Thomas College for two years. After that he returned to the movie theatre business, working for many theatre companies as they often changed ownership. With his loyalty, work ethic, and experience, he advanced to a management position.
In his parents later years, Robert took care of them with kindness and attention. He had a strong devotion to his faith and God, attending daily mass most of his life. Above all, his positive attitude was a key to who he was. Anyone who knew Robert knows that his faith, family and work were his entire life.
Robert (Uncle Bob to our family) will be sadly missed at Sunday dinners and family holidays. Every movie we go to, we will think of him.
Survivors include, his Brother Adrian Thill and his Wife, Joyce, Nephew, Christopher Thill, Niece Jenna (Josh) Anderson, all of Minneapolis.
