You and selmer always made me feel so special when I was growing up. I loved to go w you and visit at ur home on big sandy. Thank you for being in my life. 

My darling friend, how sad I was to hear of your passing and yet thrilled you are now with your beloved Selmer. You were there for me during thick and thin, made me laugh hysterically and always encouraged me to look on the bright side even on the darkest of days. I adore you and know that our Lord now embraces you in His loving arms. God Bless you my friend and be at peace. Until we meet again ...

Dear Mrs. Holter,  We may have met at a parent-teacher conference night a time or two, but I don't really recall that. Today, I met your personable, charming daughter, Nancy. What a lovely lady ! She told me, that she often baby sat her baby brother, Mark - and still  loves him ! Me, too, on that latter point. Mark was my reason for being here today. In yesteryear's Government class at North High (the entire Holter Family's  Alma Mater, Nancy told me), I would occasionally - okay, usually - throw in a joke and/or pun. This would often - okay, usually - set Mark's wit and vocabulary into high gear. We were both incurable, apparently, but I was required to try to get back to the lesson plan. Expressing exasperation one day, I was set in my place by one of Mark's classmates, Sue B., who said "Well, you started it!" True, Sue. But how rude! Darned kids!  Always ganging up on me! :) We've stayed in touch off and on over the years, Mark and I. Wonderful belated entry in my Polaris, during Paul and Mary's wedding reception. Peace Corps Volunteer Holter: what a great ambassador for our country! Professor! Makes me proud, not that I can claim much credit for his accomplishment. Another of his classmates posted elsewhere last week, that she'd always thought Mark had hit the lottery, parent-wise. Judging from her son, and the daughter whom I met today, I'd say that Leah is right. Thank you, Mrs. Holter, for being the great parent which you obviously were, and for sending your children to wear your own white and blue.
