Died peacefully after suffering lung failure on April 8, 2011. Preceded in death by parents, John & Ethel Dorr; brothers, Don and Jim Dorr. Survived by wife of over 60 years, Mary; children, Patricia (Jerry Klasen) of New Richmond, WI, Gregory (Karla) of Roseville, Kathryn (Tom Boese) of Minneapolis, Thomas (Polly) of Brooklyn Park, Mary Ellen (John Hnath) of Brooklyn Park, and James of Brooklyn Park; 13 grandchildren, Kate Drury, Anna, Elle, Sarah Klasen, Sam, Franny, Michael, Justin, Aleyna, Joan, Carolyn Dorr, Joe and Rachel Hnath; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Burton of Eagan; sister-in-law, Dolores Dorr of Burnsville; many nieces, nephews and friends. Navy veteran WWII, retired engineer 44 years Northern Pacific/ Burlington northern RR, 14 year member AA, lifetime northsider. Funeral Mass, St. Austin Catholic Church, 4055 Thomas Ave. N., Minneapolis on Monday, April 11 at 4 PM. Reviewal at the church 2:30-4 PM Monday prior to service. Burial Tuesday, April 12, 11:30 AM at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Kapala-Glodek- Malone, New Hope. Bud attended Nazareth Hall prep school in Arden Hills before graduating High School in Minneapolis Patrick Henry’s charter class 1942. During WWII he served aboard a submarine chaser in the North Atlantic and briefly taught naval school at Brown University, Providence, RI. After learning to high dive in the navy, he performed with the Minneapolis Water Follies at Wirth Lake. He was accomplished at baseball and hockey, playing both sports into mid-life.
