Irene H. Russ

Celebration of Irene’s life is Thursday, April 3, 2025 at 12:00 P.M. Visitation thirty minutes prior to the service at Kapala Glodek-Malone Funeral Home in New Hope on Thursday. Interment Gethsemane Cemetery.

Irene was born January 2, 1937, the daughter of John and Julia (Fautsch) Marketon. After graduation, Irene moved to St. Louis Park, MN where she met the love of her life Ronald Russ.

Irene stayed at home to raise her children and then went to work at Kmart in New Hope. Once she retired her husband thought she needed to keep busy so he got her a job at AMC Sales where she worked until the Pandemic ended her working career at age 83. Irene was an avid book reader and loved playing cards with her family.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband Ronald; son David; parents John and Julia Marketon; brothers and sisters-in-law George (Jean) Marketon, Paulette Marketon, Tony Marketon, LeRoy Marketon; sisters and brothers-in-law Dorothy (Ralph) Bauman, Gladys Broll, Anna (Herbert) Wehle, Herbert Kapsner, Albert Czanstkowski, LouAnn and Peter Van Gerpen, Patricia and Allen Eastvold.

Irene is survived by her loving family: son Daniel (Kim) Russ of Coon Rapids; daughters Debra Cashman of Erie, CO, Brenda Russ of Maple Grove; grandchildren Kelly (Kevin) Nixon, Talon (Kaycee) Russ, Phillip Picard, Jake Russ; great-grandchildren Jordan and Aliya Russ, Ryan, Jenna and Adam Nixon, Pierce and Maxine Picard. Great-great-grandchild Mira Russ. Sisters and brothers Frances Czanstkowski of Delano, Joe (Agnes) Marketon of Howard Lake, Marie Kapsner of Hastings, Donald Marketon of Howard Lake, Clarence (Rena) Marketon of Nevis, Joan (Jeff) Johnson of Oakdale, Larry Broll of Waverly; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff and caregivers in the Cabin at Havenwood who helped Irene in her final year. And a special thank you to Jane Scofield for being there.
