Flo and family,  Just read about Harlan's passing.  What a great guy.  I'll always remember and appreciate his skills as a carpenter on my homes in Bloomington.  We spent lots of time together and I was always sad when he was done because I'd miss him.  I had hoped to take him to the rededication of the WWI Memorial on the Parkway but I remember you told me he was not well enough of go.

I was looking forward to seeing him and the whole family at Kevin and Geri wedding {Dec. 2010}. That day was a bad snow storm. He did not make it, it was not meant to be. Dear Flo and Family,
My interaction with you and Harlan goes back around 45 years to the mid-1960's when we lived about a block apart.  You were on Beard and we were on Abbott.  I was the local paperboy who delivered the weekly local paper to you.  At the same time my father Mike Adams worked for Harlan on several jobs.  Eventually I grew up and graduated High School in 1972 and my father then moved the family to a small town in Northern Minnesota called Longville.  For the next year I worked with my father roughing-in homes from Duluth to several locations across the Iron Range.  All of those jobs were sent to us from Harlan and he stopped by at several locations to check on our progress.  Harlan always had a smile and always made me the “apprentice”, feel at ease.  My father, who passed on in 2005, always liked and respected Harlan.  He never had anything but praise for Harlan both as a businessman and a friend.  It has been some time, about 39 years since I last spoke to Harlan, but he will be missed and I will keep him in my memories.  Please accept my sympathies during this time.

Dan & I will deeply miss Hanlan.  He was a kind man and very good neighbor. We will always remember the advice & tips he gave us on being new homeowners and the fun we had at various family parties and talking "over the fence" between our yards.  Our thoughts & prayers are with you.
