Deborah Ann Helmke-Wodtke, age 71, of Brooklyn Park, MN, passed away on Feb 13, 2024.
Deb was born on August 9, 1952 to Duane and Arliss Helmke. She was a hairdresser until a stroke in 1991 left her paralyzed on the left side of her body. She attended Hamline University and after graduating, found her dream career of teaching art to disabled adults at Interact Center for the Visual and Performing Arts. She worked there for many years until her own disability made it too difficult to continue. Deb was always cooking, gardening, and doing her own artistic endeavors. She absolutely LOVED her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had many challenges in her life but she never let those challenges slow her down. Deb will be missed by many.
