Thomas Edmund Walsh a long time resident of New City entered into eternal rest on May 2, 2014 at the age of 88. He was born to the late Joseph and Mary Walsh on July 17, 1925 in Yonkers, NY. Tom was a World War II veteran who served honorably in the Navy as a Motor Machinist Mate Third Class on a PT boat. His squadron patrolled the waters of the Philippine Islands. After separating from the Navy, Tom pursued a degree in Petroleum Engineering from the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy. He graduated in 1951 with high honors. After graduation, he worked in various levels of management with Exxon Corporation, Mobil Corporation, finally retiring as a Chief Engineer for the New York State Bureau of Oil and Gas Regulations, a Division of Mineral Resources. He was a long time and active member of St. Augustine's Church.He is survived by Evelyn Walsh, his beloved wife of 60 years. He is also survived by his 5 children and their spouses: Kathy and Krys Koronowicz of New Windsor, NY, Tom Walsh of Tappan, NY, Linda Boothby of Round Rock, TX, Evelyn Dyer of Burke, VA, and Michael and Nancy Walsh of Monroe, NY. He also leaves behind his 9 grandchildren: Kevin, Kierstin, Kelly, Kristy, Sean, Mikaela, Ryan, Conor, and Colleen and 2 great grandchildren. Survivors also include his brother Kenneth and two sisters, Regina and Eileen Walsh, all from Yonkers, NY along with numerous nephews, nieces and friends. He is predeceased by his brother James Walsh and two sisters, Betsy Hagan and Patricia Plaufmer.Visitation will be held from 7-9pm on Tuesday May 6th, 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Wednesday May 7th at Higgins Funeral Home 321 South Main Street New City, NY. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10am on May 8th at St. Augustine's Church 140 Maple Ave New City, NY. Interment will follow in Fredrick Loescher Veterans Memorial Cemetery in New Hempstead, NY.
