Steven Sofia

After attempting to receive a gift of life from his wife in the form of a kidney transplant, Steven Sofia, husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away at NY Presbyterian Hospital, while surrounded by his loving family and closest friends on Tuesday, June 12th, 2018.

Born in The Bronx on July 31st, 1963, he moved to Rockland County in 1974 where he forged many lifelong friendships and grew into a hard-working family man.

Despite his illness, his ambition did not waver. Steven had always dreamt of being his own boss and had recently started a Steel business, which brought him great joy and an overwhelming sense of pride.

He will be remembered and missed dearly by his wife of 29 years, Veronica, and his children Stephanie, Camille, and Matt, Matt’s Girlfriend, Chelsea DeStefano, as well as his Mother-In-Law, Barbara Rutko, and his swarm of Dachshunds, Pixie, Remy, Willow, Utley, and Ruby.

Visitation will be held at Higgins Funeral home on Tuesday, June 19th at 2:00PM-4:00PM and 7:00PM-9:00PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi church in West Nyack on Wednesday, June 20th at 10:00AM.
