Dear Uncle Steve,

Steve it's been 4 weeks since you were called home to heaven. I'm sure by now you are very comfortable with your new surroundings and you are very busy welcoming and greeting all who enter the Gates of Heaven. 

 We all miss you more than you can imagine, as time passes the void of not seeing or talking to you remains.  However I take great comfort and pride in reading and listening to the fond memories people have of you and the lessons you taught so many.
You were put on Earth for a reason and that was to be a living example of how rewarding life can be when it's lived with kindness, happiness and inclusion. I will always miss you but I find peace in knowing you work was done here on Earth and you earned your wings for a life well lived.

  I have always been proud to have you as a brother but never more than over the last 4 weeks as it has become very clear to me that you had a  positive impact on everyone you met especially all your friends from the old neighborhood.

Uncle Steve, there is not a day that goes by when we are not thinking of you. You left us almost three weeks ago and we are still in shock. We find it very hard to believe. Stephen Martino Eulogy

Stephen was a very special person he was born with a defected heart.  But   for all of us who knew him….. and to know him was to love him, we know that his heart was a big as the universe and was only filled with love.    He lived a simple life filled with joy and happiness every day.  His love was unconditional and he truly represented the goodness and possibilities of what life can be when lived with nothing but kindness and compassion for others.

Steve had a passion for life and shared that passion with you if you wanted him to or not.  See with my brother you had no choice when you were around him you were going to be happy and give him your attention Or You were in trouble cause he would wear you down and if that did not work you were really in trouble because as only Steven could… he would say I'm going to tell my mother on you And knowing my mother no one wanted that especially when it came to Steve.
  
So as we say good bye to this Kind, Gentle Sweet person.  I challenge each and every one of us who loved him to celebrate his life by living our lives a little more like how he lived his.  Choosing to see the good in people vs. the bad and accepting people for whom and what they are.

It's true heaven is a brighter place now that you are there but I'm no too sure St Peter is going to be thrilled....
  no one can greet you and welcome you at the front door like Steve could and my guess is that St Peter may need to find a new role to play in heaven.

Stevo, it has been a week since you went home to Heaven.  A lot of tears have been shed by your family, but we have to remember you are in a better place and watching over us now.  I just want you to know that you touched everyone's life in one way or another.  Everyone had a story to share with us.  They remembered your endearing smile, or warm hug, or enthusiastic handshake, you touched all you knew and you did not even have to try.   I waited for now to write something in your book. I am still in shock that we have lost your beautiful and happy self to a greater place. I will always remember Steven coming over to our house every Saturday to spend the day with my Dad.  He would come over so excited and say 'Richie, Richie how are you?  Every single time he would give my dad the biggest hug that almost pushed my down over. My dad would give him papers each week and he treasured this 'gift'.  The hug was filled with such love. We were very saddened by passing of Stephen. I have such fond memories of him spending hours in the garage with my dad, who he called "Richie", while my dad worked with his tools, or on his car, etc. His excitement and enthusiasm were contagious and radiated throughout my home. I loved when he was around as he was pure happiness.   My dad would often send him home with "papers" that he treasured and/or a small tool or flashlight. He would always hug my dad. I knew he knew how much my dad was fond of him, and he of my dad. These tokens of affection meant so much to Stephen.  He like me, would wait for his car to drive down the street and he would race over to warmly greet him. He taught us what is important in life, that is: family, friends and being happy! Dear Martino Family
I wanted to convey my heart felt condolences to you. Stephen always held a special place in my heart. Growing up we tried to include him wherever we could as well as protect him as much as we were able. I have fond memories of his laugh and his ability to make us smile.
He is part of many great childhood memories that will live on.

Stephen was a very special person.  He was full of life and was always so happy.  We grew up with Stephen and spent hours with him and he loved my Dad.  He loved spending time with my Dad and would talk to him for hours and while my Dad would work on the car or in the garage Stephen would stay with him for hours talking. My Dad would give him papers and it would make him so happy.  He had a wonderful memory. He would recall events from years ago as if it occurred yesterday.   He would call my Dad, "Richie" and always hug my Dad.  He would recognize my Dad's car and my Dad vividly remembers him coming home from work and looking in his rear view mirror see Stephen waving and running after his car.  Everyone loved Stephen and he was part of our family.  He was very caring and was always asking about  people and very appreciative. We can all learn from Stephen's wonderful qualities.
