Robert Michael Joyce

It is with great sadness that the family of Robert (Bob) Michael Joyce share the news of his passing on September 30, 2023.

Bob was born May 23, 1934 to Walter and Catherine Joyce. Bob leaves behind a legacy of love and love of fishing. Bob’s first love was Jane, and his second love was fishing. His devotion to Jane and his family was evident in every aspect of his life and is a beautiful family trait that he has passed on to his children and grandchildren. Bob was also happy to share his fishing expertise particularly at 5:00 am in Rhode Island when the fish were calling, or the birds were working. While on the FDNY for 30 years Captain Joyce was known as a tough but fair leader, who was well respected by all. When retired Bob and Jane traveled and spent time with their family and friends. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jane, his children Noreen, Jeannie (Robert), Mary Ellen (Alan), Kevin (Therese), his grandchildren Robert (Christie), Patrick, Catherine (Jon), Emily, Drew, Kelly, Dylan, his sister Peggy and predeceased by his parents Walter and Catherine Joyce, sister Patricia O’Keefe and a number of close family and friends.

While he will be dearly missed by those of us still here we are comforted knowing that he will be resting in peace with those who went before him.

A visitation for Robert will be held Thursday, October 5, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., 321 S Main St, New City, New York 10956. A funeral mass will occur Friday, October 6, 2023 at 11:30 AM at St. Anthony Parish, 36 West Nyack Rd., Nanuet, NY 10954.
