Ralph V. Caputo known as the Rough Apple and affectionately referred to as Pop Pop passed away on January 14, 2013 at the age of 92 at home surrounded by his loving family from complications of a broken heart. He was born on January 19, 1920 in Brooklyn, New York to Vincent and Marian Caputo. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and lived there all his life until July of 2012 when he moved in with his grandson Gary Wollman and family of New City.
Ralph had a passion for boxing, his brother Tommy was a boxer and his cousin Tami Mauriello fought Joe Louis in the 1940’s. He met and married Joan Caputo who he was devoted to for 69 years. His beloved wife passed away on September 24, 2012. He is predeceased by sisters Virginia Caputo and Marie (Mary) Dartley, brothers Anthony and Thomas Caputo, son Richard Levy and niece Barbara Caputo. He is survived by his son Robert Levy and family, daughter in law Marion Levy and family, nieces Virginia Caputo, Barbara Dartley, nephews Vincent Caputo, Thomas Caputo and Lawrence Dartley, sister in law Jean Caputo, grandson Gary Wollman and family of New City, granddaughter Jane Kunde (Michael) and many other nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Your loving family will miss you dearly and cherish all of your stories.
We would like to express our gratitude to the nurses and staff at Nyack Hospital (5th Floor) and United Hospice of Rockland, especially Peggy who helped make his final journey a peaceful one.

Family will receive visitors at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., on Friday, January 18 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Services will take place at the Funeral Home at 8pm on Friday. Interment at 11am on Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY.
