Phyllis earned both her Bachelors and Masters degrees from Mercy College after years of night school. She had a long career as a public school special education teacher at Pearl River Public Schools were she touched so many lives.
Phyllis' story as a 2nd generation Sicilian Italian immigrant, had deep family roots in the Bronx, the fabric trade and fashion world. Throughout her life Phyllis was a lover of sunshine, gardens, flowers, music and great food! She traveled worldwide including trips to Japan, Italy & the Caribbean. While home Phyllis enjoyed walks on beaches, expressing her creativity through knitting, crocheting, sewing, origami, and gardening. She also loved books and playing MahJong with the girlfriends. But most of all Phyllis was generous to all with her unconditional love, hospitality and delicious cooking!
In lieu of flowers we would like donations made in Phyllis' name to Carlucci Home, 516 Mullock Rd, Port Jervis, New York 12771 who cares for many other senior women just like her.
