Mary Respol Imperato, age 89, passed away peacefully in Westlake Village, California, surrounded by her
loving family.
She is survived by her daughter, Michele (William) Stabile; her son, Thomas (Anne) Imperato, Jr.; and her grandchildren, Michael and Alexandra Imperato. She is reunited in Heaven with her husband, Thomas A. Imperato, Sr., and her sister and best friend, Amelia “Mimi” Hartwick.
Born on April 23, 1935, Mary was a proud, born-and-bred New Yorker. Though she spent many years with family in California, her heart never left New York - the city was always home. She loved Central Park, the Yankees, and a warm, buttered kaiser roll (preferably from Rockland Bakery).
Mary was the longtime owner and operator of Vilardi’s, a local bio-analytical blood lab, where she built both a career and community. Her dedication to her work and the people she served was a reflection of the same care and commitment she brought to every part of her life.
Mary was unforgettable - fiercely loyal, deeply loving, brutally honest in the best of ways, and always unapologetically herself. Her sharp wit, boundless heart, and magnetic presence left a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to know her. She was our rock and our rebel, and her spirit will live on in all who were touched by her strength and love.
