Mary Catherine Coriano (Mary Kaye Brophy) was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She fought her battle with cancer head-on and left this world, peacefully at home, surrounded by her loved ones, at the young age of 70.
Mary Kaye was born on August 26, 1951, to Margaret and John J. Brophy, and grew up in Garnerville, NY. She always had a love for helping others and started working in the healthcare field while in high school, at Helen Hayes Hospital. After high school, she went on to graduate from St. Thomas Aquinas College and then to Fordham University, where she obtained her Master's degree in Social Work. She worked for United Hospice of Rockland as the Director of Counseling and also pursued a part-time career in real estate.
Mary Kaye started having children at the age of 28 and she was everything to her girls. She was their best friend, was always there to chat, bring them back and forth to their activities, and spend late nights helping them with homework. She was a crafter at heart and her girls remember her making floral arrangements, wrapping beautiful gifts, and making Christmas sweaters.
In 1995 Mary Kaye married the love of her life, Guito. The two of them shared a beautiful life together and were more than husband and wife; they were best friends. There was nothing they wouldn’t do for one another. They showed all those around them the meaning of true love, laughter, and respect.
In 2002, she left the winters behind and headed to sunny Naples, FL. Mary Kaye continued her career in real estate full-time while working part-time in the healthcare field. Mary Kaye was a people person, always there to lend an ear or offer advice. Her kind words and encouraging wisdom could lift anyone's spirits. She always seemed to have the right answers and, as such, was a confidant to many and a friend to all. Mary Kaye was an avid lover of politics, a great dancer, and an impeccable dresser.
Mary Kaye is survived by her husband Guito, her children Alyce, Lauren, Heather, Kristin, and Guy, her sister Rita and her grandchildren Vincent, Luca, Greyson, Harper, Cruz, Kira, Danielle, Zion, and Aly. Mary Kaye was an extraordinary woman who was loved by all and will be truly missed.
