8/25/1951-2/2/2022
Margaret Jean Quinn, fondly known as “Peggy” amongst her friends and colleagues, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, she was 70 years old. Margaret was born August 25, 1951, in Valley Stream, NY to Richard and Viola (nee McClung) Quinn. Her family moved to New City, NY in 1958, where she was raised along with her siblings, Mary Ann (Smith), Patrick, Theresa (Duso), and Richard (“Ricky”). She graduated from St. Joseph’s Mountain School in Monticello, NY and then went on to receive her bachelors from SUNY Fredonia. She resided in Rego Park, NY, where she shared many wonderful memories with her life partner, Wilfrid Aime.
Throughout her life she had worked in areas where she would be an advocate in the medical field and for those less fortunate. Most of her tenure was spent in the Capital Region of NYS, where she worked for the Department of Social Services. She later transitioned to a position amongst the administration in Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, NY. Her employment afforded her the opportunity for travel throughout the state, and beyond, where not only did she gain knowledge and expertise in her field, she met many people through her employ who became life-long friends. As a result, Margaret was a promoter of life and all beings within it. She was a champion for the underdog and would do all within her power to ensure everyone had a fair shake in life. She was always someone you could turn to for advice and direction.
When Peggy wasn’t working, she enjoyed time with her family. She loved to travel, take in the arts, and to spend time with her life-partner, Wilfrid, and her many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Peggy always had an amusing catch-phrase that would be appropriate for any situation. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Patrick, and her sister Theresa. She is survived by her life-partner, Wilfrid Aime and his children; her sister Mary Ann of Jacksonville, FL, and brother Richard, of Maricopa, AZ, and by several generations of nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY at 10 am, with a Christian burial to follow at St. Anthony’s in Nanuet, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and/or American Diabetes Association in Peggy’s name are appreciated by the family.
