She graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas HS and Drake Business School, both of the Bronx, NY.
Together with her husband of 34 years, John O’Neill, they raised 5 children, Peter O’Neill, Patricia O’Neill (Michael), Colleen Houlis (Paul), Timothy O’Neill (Patricia), and Nancy House (Michael). She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her parents, siblings Frank, Jerry, and Sr. Dorothy Golden, OP, and two grandchildren Kevin Houlis and Michelle Cicatelli.
A career woman in her early years, she worked as an Executive Assistant for various large corporations, and government agencies. A devoted Catholic, she finished her career as the Assistant to the Director of Religious Education for St. Augustine’s Parish.
She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially at West Nyack Swim Club where she was a longtime member. She was very popular at cookouts and family reunions for her world famous Cole slaw and potato salad. Marge & Jack were very adventurous travelers, they loved camping, and going for long drives to sometimes unplanned destinations.
A Mass celebrating Marge’s life will be held on Thursday at 10 am at St. Augustine’s Church in New City, with interment to follow at the Rockland Cemetery in Sparkill, NY. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4pm – 8pm at the Higgins Funeral Home in New City. We would also like to offer special thanks to Geneve Miller who cared for her so lovingly in her home.
