Madlyn, at the age of 85, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones and survived by her devoted husband, Frank J. Borelli, of 62 years and her 2 children, Frank and Rick, their wives Melissa and Suja and her six grandchildren Amanda, Riana, Danielle, Trina, Luke and Francesca.
She was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 26, 1937 to Aurelio and Lucia Quadrino, attended Bay Ridge High School and was married at St. Agatha’s Roman Catholic Church in Brooklyn.
Madlyn was best known by her friends and family as a kind, compassionate and gentle lady with a big heart who was always thinking about others first. Her pleasant personality and sense of positivity was contagious to everyone she met. Although she was afflicted with Multiple Sclerosis since her 20’s and confined to a wheelchair ever since, Madlyn’s faith never wavered and her continuous strength to overcome her disability and two unrelated bouts of cancer has been an inspiration to many.
She was a caring mother and grandmother and loved nothing more than spending time with her family.
Feeling she was blessed, Madlyn was a very generous philanthropist whose support made possible the creation of the Madlyn Borelli Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Center at Montefiore Nyack Hospital to help patients suffering from MS. Additionally, her strong faith and desire to help others drove her to also be a key benefactor to Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale Pennsylvania, Lackawaxen Ambulance in Pike County Pennsylvania, Queen of Peace in Hawley Pennsylvania, St. Augustine’s Church in New City, St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill and the new F J Borelli Family Emergency Center at Montefiore Nyack Hospital.
She was an incredible woman and will be missed dearly. Visitation will be held at St. Augustine Church (118 South Main Street in New City) from 3-7 Sunday, February 5th and a mass celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 6th at St. Augustine Church. Interment will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Nanuet.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Madlyn to the Madlyn Borelli Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Center at Montefiore Nyack Hospital or to the Madlyn Borelli Scholarship Fund at St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill.
