Kathleen Ann Cleary

December 15, 1949 to Lyle and May (McManus) Schoonmaker. She married the love of her life,

Peter, in June of 1970 at St. Raymond’s Church in the Bronx. She has now rejoined him after 4

long years apart.

Kathy was a graduate of Misericordia Nursing School in the Bronx. After working for only a few

years in a maternity unit at Freehold Hospital in NJ, she chose to stay home with her children

and become the caretaker of not only her two daughters, but countless other children in the

neighborhood for over 30 years.

Kathy enjoyed family and friends above all else, but her grandchildren became her life’s greatest

joy. She was always ready for dining out with friends, listening to stories, and was always up for

taking the long way home. She loved going to the theatre, shopping, cruising, and travel. The

smallest things could brighten her day. It used to be flowers or a small gift from her late husband,

but in recent years, it was seeing the faces of her grandchildren when they visited her in

Warwick, NY at Schervier Pavilion.

Kathy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, with a huge heart and immense generosity.

She opened her arms and heart fully to everyone.

Kathy was widowed by her husband Peter, and is survived by their two daughters, Jennifer and

husband Michael Duda of Nanuet, NY, and Allyson and husband Cristian Medina of Chester,

NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Gabrielle and Cristian Medina, and Sophia Duda.

A private Christian Burial will take place at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Nanuet. When we can be

close again to those we love, Kathleen’s daughters will host a celebration to honor her life.
