Josephine Caroline Walten

Josephine Caroline Walten (nee Toner) of New City, NY passed away peacefully on September 5, 2022. Josephine was born on February 17, 1932 in Yonkers, NY to James and Margaret (nee Hughes) Toner. Josephine married Michael Joseph Clifford in April of 1953 and was blessed with a large family. She is predeceased by her husband Michael, who passed in 1972.

After raising her family, Josephine returned to college and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Mercy College in 1982. She married Harry Walten in 1985 and travelled the world. In her later years, Josephine enjoyed painting and spending time with her doggies.

Josephine is survived by her children Michael (Jessica) Clifford, Mary (Eamon) McCooey, Margaret Teegan, James (Sharon) Clifford, Joseph (Jennifer) Clifford. She was predeceased by her husband Harry Walten and Son Patrick Clifford. She is also survived by her grandchildren Megan and Amanda McCooey, Michael, Caroline and Matthew Clifford and Ava, Kathryn, Josephine and John Clifford.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 4-8pm, at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, September 12, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 128 Parrott Rd, West Nyack, NY 10994 followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Ave, Hawthorne, NY 10532.
