Joseph John Kavich

Joseph John Kavich of New City, New York, 81 years old, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2023. He is survived by Linda, his wife of 59 years; their children Theodore (Bruce), Carolyn (Joseph), and Amy (Emanuel); grandsons Alexander, Christopher, and Owen; and sisters Beatrice (Robert) and Eileen. He was predeceased by his parents Agnes and Joseph, sister Veronica, and brother Gregory.

Joe was born and raised in Brooklyn, where his sharp mind and mathematical aptitude led to his enrollment at a technical high school in Brooklyn. He later studied at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, earning his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1966. In 1982 he received his Master of Science in Statistics from Rochester Institute of Technology. Joe enjoyed a long career in the fields of chemical engineering and quality assurance.

Joe, Linda, and their kids were inseparable through the years. The family lived in Milford, Connecticut and Penfield, New York before settling in New City in 1981. As a dad, Joe was easygoing and supportive, his love always unconditional. He was a man of few words with a surprisingly silly sense of humor. Besides his family, the things he loved most included keeping up with world and local news, watching the latest science fiction films and TV shows, eating Chinese food, sipping a good whisky cocktail, and enjoying nature – whether walking along the Hudson River, spending time at the beach, or relaxing on the back deck with his bird feeders in view.
