John Rudolph Milani

John Rudolph Milani was born in New York City on January 24, 1950 to Rudolph and Melanie Milani, and went home to be with the Lord on September 26, 2017. John was a life-long New Yorker – he grew up in Manhattan and Queens, and ultimately moved to Wesley Hills with his wife, Sylvia shortly after they married in 1983. He enjoyed taking long drives through nature – especially when the leaves changed colors in the fall, watching sports, and working on his crossword puzzle book while sipping on a hot “for seniors only” McDonald’s coffee.

John, a devoted servant of God, has been a part of Gracepoint Gospel Fellowship for over 20 years. His walk with the Lord was enriched by his active involvement within the church in many different roles. John taught in the Children’s Ministry teaching kids how to serve the Lord at an early age. He was an usher greeting people with a warm smile as they came into the church, and would lead classes after the service to encourage people in their walks with the Lord. He served in the Men’s Ministry and was heavily involved in the Anchors Outreach. He was also a deacon and would frequently attend Wednesday morning prayer to pray for loved ones, our community, our nation and its leaders, and anyone who needed prayer. He also rarely missed a Saturday morning Men’s Breakfast. John loved spending time at the church with his brothers and sisters in Christ, and was truly uplifted by his time spent here.

In addition to his faith, John was also very passionate about Prosthetics and Orthotics which was brought about by a car accident that resulted in the loss of both of his legs. He began working at the New York City Veterans Administration Medical Center in 1974 where he ultimately became the Clinical Manager of the national Prosthetic/Orthotic Laboratory program before retiring in 2010. During his time here, he helped change the Orthotic & Prosthetic industry in a positive way. He was a highly skilled clinician and administrator, whose technical skills, caring and empathy was evidenced by the untold numbers of patients and colleagues that he impacted throughout his career. John is survived by his wife Sylvia, his daughter Stephanie, his son Peter, his sister Melanie & husband Andrew, his brother James (Jimmy) & wife Mi-Suk as well as a multitude of extended family and friends. He will be remembered as a loving father and husband, a devoted man of God, and a friend and brother in Christ. We will miss his wonderful, kind, thoughtful and caring spirit.
