Jack Bosworth died peacefully at home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on June 1, 2014. He was 83. Jack was born on April 10, 1931 in Bronx, New York to the late William and Christina Bosworth. He married Grace (Betty) LaMarche on May 15, 1955, his devoted wife of 52 years, who predeceased him on November 9, 2007. Jack was a loving and devoted husband and father, who raised his family in Stony Point, New York. He enjoyed travel, especially family cruises with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed cooking, which was the center of family holidays. Jack retired from the New York City Police Department in 1975 after proudly serving 20 years as a Police Officer, finishing out his career in the Bronx Borough Office. He was a member of the Rockland County Shields and was part of their first executive board in 1966. After he retired, Jack was the owner of J.B.’s Liquors in Stony Point for over 10 years. He was a Life Member of Wayne Hose Co. No. 1 Fire Department, beginning his service in 1960. During 1950-1959 he served his country in the Army National Guard as a specialist, fifth class. During the past 15 years, Jack actively participated in annual fundraising walks with Bozz’s Bunch in support of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to help find a cure. He was secretary for the Board of Fire Commissioner for the Town of Stony Point for many years. He was a member of Stony Point Seniors. Jack is survived by his daughters, Christina Skinner and husband Bill, Barbara Quinn and husband Jack, Margaret Schaefer and husband Mark, his son Jack Bosworth and wife Mary, grandchildren Bill Skinner, Jr. and wife Heather, Amanda Skinner, Kaitlyn Quinn and fiancé Bobby Rose, Danielle Quinn, Jennifer, Danny and Kristen O’Connor, John and Kayla Bosworth, great-grandson Brady Skinner and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, William and Harold. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 560 Sylvan Avenue, Englewood Cliffs, NJ 07632. Friends may call at Higgins Funeral Home in Stony Point from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Thursday. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11am at Higgins Funeral Home. Burial will follow at F.W. Loescher Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Monsey, NY.
