John L. Ahle of Nyack NY, 86 years old passed away on Friday March 27th after a brief illness at Good Samaritan Hospital. Raised in the Bronx, John was born on October 16, 1933 to John and Rose Ahle. His mother Rose died at childbirth and his father remarried Margaret who raised John from childhood. His two sisters Henrietta and Lillian predeceased him. After graduation from high school, John began his long career at Consolidated Edison from which he retired in 1996. While at Con Ed, he was drafted and served in the Army for 2 years, stationed in Germany. In 1957 he married Eileen B. Lynch. They moved to Nanuet in 1962 to raise their family. While in Nanuet, John was a volunteer ambulance driver and fireman. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and taught the hunter’s safety course for many years. Upon retirement they moved to Cape Cod where he was active with the Eastham Council on Aging. He enjoyed gardening, yardwork, traveling and hosting family and friends at their home. For many years they would winter in Vero Beach, enjoying the warmer weather and visiting with family and other snowbirds. In 2019, after 23 years on the Cape, health reasons brought them back to Rockland to be closer to family. He is survived by his four sons, John (Deb), Robert (Ann Marie), Peter (Diahann) and Timothy. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, one great grandson and several nieces and nephews.
A private burial service was held at St. Anthony cemetery in early April. A memorial Mass and celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the food pantry at Catholic Charities Community Services of Rockland, 78 Hudson Ave, Haverstraw, NY 10927.
