Joan Francis McKeever (LaGraff)(DiNuzzo), a long-time Stony Point resident passed away in her home on Friday, October 13 th , 2023. Joan was born and raised in the Washington Heights section of New York City and moved to Stony Point in 1968, where she raised her family. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Friend, and Volunteer.
Joan was active in the community, a proud member of the Stony Point Seniors and Red Hat Society, where she enjoyed many trips and adventures with her friends. Joan had a strong spiritual presence. She was a member of the Irish Catholic Daughters, a Eucharistic Minister for the Mariane Shrine, and a member of their Choir, which brought her much happiness, as well as the opportunity to share her faith and love of God with her neighbors and parish. Joan was a dedicated Medical Secretary for Letchworth Village, where her love and care for her other “kids” far exceeded her administrative responsibilities. She also worked for Helen Hayes Hospital and the Robert L. Yeager Health Center.
Joan lived a beautifully fulfilled life, she truly cherished family celebrations and was ever-present at all milestones. She loved to travel, sing, laugh, dance, and was always the life of the party! She touched so many lives, friends become family. Those who knew her loved when she would share her wisdom, amusing stories, or one of her animated sayings that just stayed with you.
Queen of all things fun and a family full of love, she is survived by her husband Michael McKeever, children Peter DiNuzzo (Anna), James DiNuzzo, Sr., Theresa DiNuzzo-Konchalski (Ron), Lisa DiNuzzo, and Michael McKeever II. (Helen), her grandchildren Jacqueline DiNuzzo (Rachel), James DiNuzzo Jr. (Sandra), David DiNuzzo, Melissa DiNuzzo, Amanda Makara, Robert DiNuzzo, Joey Makara, Jonathan DiNuzzo (Brittany), Alexandra von Hein, Kaitlyn von Hein, and Sophia von Hein, her great-grandchildren, Ava Harm, Madison Makara, Amelia Vasquez, Olivia Vasquez, James DiNuzzo III, Charles DiNuzzo, Catalina DiNuzzo, Emma DiNuzzo, and Nephew, Lawrence Ryan ( Mary), Her great-niece Madison Jean Ryan.
Joan's Life Celebration will include a wake on Tuesday, October 24th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00
p.m. at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home- 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956, and
Mass on Wednesday, October 25th at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Immaculate Conception-
26 John Street, Stony Point, NY 10980.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The South Florida Chapter of the Crohn’s and Colitis and the Alzheimer’s Association.
