James McLaughlin

James McLaughlin of Valley Cottage, NY, 80 years old, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2018. James was a resident of Valley Cottage for over 50 years, he grew up in Washington Heights, NY. James was born on December 17, 1937 to Stephen and Alicia McLaughlin. He graduated from Power Memorial High School and married the love of his life, Elizabeth, in 1964. James was a 40-year veteran of the Fire Department of New York City, and he also served in the US ARMY. He enjoyed cooking, Word War II history books, and being with the love of his life (Betty). He was an avid Jets and Mets fan, which usually brought frustration, and boy did he love Notre Dame, but his greatest joy was making sure his family was doing well. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, his daughters Denise and Erin, his sons Jim and Patrick, his daughter in laws Tina and Jennifer, and his grandchildren James, Jack, Julia, Arden, Tatum and Sean. In addition to many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was a NY City Fireman, a true hero.

Family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-9pm, and Sunday 2-4PM and 7-9PM at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, 10am, St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Congers, NY followed by interment at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Nanuet, NY.
