James P. Boylan, 82, beloved husband of Mary Boylan of Nanuet, passed away at home on June 2, 2013. He was the son of James and Elizabeth Boylan, who was born on January 15, 1931 in Queens, NY. As a Marine, he served in the Korean War and received the Purple Heart with two Gold Stars. During this time, he received his college degree from Mercy College. After leaving the Marines, he went onto serve proudly as a Senior Investigator for the New York State Troopers for 27 years. Once retired, he worked for Con Edison at Indian Point, NY for 20 years as a Security Supervisor. After two colorful careers, he retired to spend more time with his family, playing golf, and telling stories.
He is the proud father of James and Elizabeth, Thomas and Elizabeth, Joseph and Nancy, Donna; Jeannie and Richard Cammarata, Maureen and Edward Stoker. He adored his grandchildren: Ryan, Jacqueline, Kerry, Danny Boylan; Sarah and Liam Boylan; Patrick, Brendan, Beatrice Ann and Mary Grace Boylan; and Mary and Edward Stoker. He is also survived by his sister Jean Keating and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother William Boylan.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-9pm and Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, 10am, at St. Anthony's Parish Church, Nanuet, followed by interment at Mary Rest Cemetery, Mahwah, NJ.
