Eileen Joan Murphy

Eileen Joan Murphy of New City, affectionately known as MereMere, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2022 at the age of 87. She was a longtime resident of New City. She was born on June 22, 1935 to Thomas and Kathleen Murphy of Pearl River. “Joan” was a Secretary at the Clarkstown Junior High School/Felix Festa Middle School retiring in 2005 after a long career.

She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Nawoschik; her sister Christine Nugent (William); her son-in-law Joseph Malgieri and her grandchildren: TJ (Vanessa), Christopher (Marisa) and Jenna (Travis). She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Danny, Christian and Bowen and her niece Maura (Jacob). She was predeceased by her loving daughter Cathleen Ellen Malgieri. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4-7pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. A Memorial Service will be held at Higgins Funeral Home on Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery, Congers, NY.
