Edward M Hewitt

Edward M. Hewitt of New City, NY, 81 years old, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2021. Edward was a 57 year resident of New City. He was born on January 29, 1939 to Mary and Edward Hewitt. He graduated from Evander Childs High school and married the love of his life, Louise, in 1961. Edward was a life member, Past President, and Ex-Chief of the New City Fire Engine Company No 1. He also served the community on The New City Fire District Board of Commissioners as well as serving on the Town of Clarkstown Board of Fire Appeals. He enjoyed his time volunteering but most of all enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid Yankees and Giants fan and enjoyed summer vacations on Long Beach Island, New Jersey with all his family. He is survived by his wife, Louise; his children Gregory and Kathleen Hewitt, Jane and Tom Schlappich and Kyle and Janet Hewitt as well as all of his beloved grandchildren; Katie, Amanda, Will, Chris, Kyle, Sean and Matt. One of Ed’s greatest gifts of all was his wonderful sense of humor which will continue to live on within all of his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and by those whose lives he touched.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the New City Fire House located at 15 Maple Ave, New City, NY 10956, with a Firematic Service at 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 12 noon at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in West Nyack, NY, followed by interment at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Nanuet, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the New City Fire Engine Company No 1 Good and Welfare account, 15 Maple Ave., New City, NY 10956.
