July 25, 2022. Dorothy was a Rockland native who was born and raised in Pearl River
and resided in Nanuet throughout her life.
Dorothy worked at Lederle Laboratories in Pearl River in the 1940’s, marrying her husband Wallace " Vince" Rhodes after World War II. She was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Nanuet Ambulance Corp. and the Grace Conservative Baptist Church. She partnered with her husband Vince in the running of Rhodes Service Center on Main Street in Nanuet for fifty years.
Dorothy is survived by her three children, Charlene R. Kaiser, Daryl W. Rhodes, and
Daniel W. Rhodes. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Aimee Kaiser Henkel,
Jenni Kaiser, Stephanie Rhodes, Travis Rhodes and Chelsea Rhodes Settler, as well as
her great grandchildren Mackenzie Grace and Griffin Wallace Henkel. She is
predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Wallace "Vince" Rhodes, her sister,
Lorraine Dillin Schlemmer, and brother Arthur Dillin.
Dorothy’s passion was her creative and artistic endeavors. She enjoyed water color
pencil, painting and sculpture, sewing, knitting and woodworking and found joy in
sharing that with others.
In lieu of a Funeral Service, a celebration of her life will be held at a future date.
