Dorothy O'Connell

Dorothy (Dee) O’Connell of Valley Cottage passed away on June 2, 2013. Dee was born on May 6, 1949 in the Bronx and was a graduate of St. Helena’s High School. She was the daughter of William Finn and Mildred Calvert. Dee is survived by her loving husband John, two children Rory and Brianne O’Connell, nieces and nephews Christopher and April Dabreau, Debbie and Stew Warnock, Richie Dabreau, Eve Uffer and Richie Uffer. Dee was a “special grandma” to Ashley Warnock. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Mary Loeffler, Rita Kelly, as well as numerous aunts uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings Gail, Millie and Bill. Dee was employed by the Town of Clarkstown Personnel Department. She enjoyed spending time in Boynton Beach, Florida with her family and friends. To many people she was the best of friends. Over the years, she was a devoted caregiver to her whole family. Dee’s lively presence will be sorely missed.

Family will receive visitors on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc. Mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday at 10am at St. Paul’s Church in Congers, NY. Interment will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dee’s name to the charity of your choice.
