Diane L. Michalak

Diane was born in Yonkers, New York, on May 8, 1937, daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Sullivan, she was the youngest of five children.

She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-four years, Joseph, and her three children,Joseph (MaryJane), and James (Mary) and Karen.She is also survived by the lights of her life, her twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Kaila Anderson (Adam), Terrence Michalak (Cameron),Hannah Bogoian (Paul), Dan Anderson(Eleyna), Denis Michalak(Courtney), Kyra Michalak, Sean Anderson(Tori), Julia Michalak, Patrick Michalak, Joseph A. Michalak, Margaret Michalak, and Aidan Michalak; great grandchildren Nolan Michalak, Charlotte Michalak, and Hailey Michalak.

Diane graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Yonkers, NY in 1956. She went on to marry Joseph in September 1959, and happily devoted her life to her family, making her home a place filled with love, warmth, and welcome. Nothing gave her greater joy than to have her family gathered around her, and the more it grew the happier she was. She always loved get togethers with friends and family, and she always loved the holidays, visiting churches at Easter and especially Christmas and Saint Patrick’s Day, when she would make her famous Irish soda bread. Her heart was as warm as her hugs, which she gladly shared with all who knew her. She loved animals, most especially her dogs and the birds she fed (along with a few friendly squirrels), and taking long walks around Rockland Lake. All her life, Diane loved baseball, especially the Yankees. She knew all the players’ stats, and never missed a game.

She was devoted to our Blessed Mother Mary, to whom she always turned for comfort and help in the trials and blessings of life.

Diane is pre-deceased by her siblings, Esther (Kohrs), Mary-Lou (Menton), Regina, Florence (McGuinness), and Daniel Sullivan.

A Remembrance at 11:15am followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:30am will be held at St. Anthony’s Church in Nanuet, NY on August 19, 2023.
