Well, buddy, it's been over two years and there isn't a day that goes by I don't think about you.  I remember when we all met at Pocono Action Park in the Summer of 1986 and how much fun we had while me, Darren and Brian were working at the waterslides. Who knew we would all become best friends.
You kept those days of Sacred Heart alive and were a great friend to all of us. I miss our conversations and I miss your sense of humor. We did grow apart after high school but our friendship never wavered. 
We miss you, Dan! 
Thanks for being that glue that kept the original band together.

Oh yeah.... HAPPY NEW MILE!!! (I haven't forgotten about that!)

Tragic and upsetting news indeed. Dan and I were childhood friends, having grown up together on Staten Island, and staying close after he had moved to PA. Reading through the memories shared, it’s no surprise Dan touched so many. We lost touch some years back, but not a single day has passed without great memories. The world has lost a great friend, and a super person.

I had the honor and privilege to work with Dan Downey at The Sports Club/LA, Upper East Side. Dan was one of my favorites, even though I wasn’t supposed to have favorites. I loved working with Dan. I appreciated his work ethic, his humor, his “New Yorkness,” he was truly one of a kind!!! I have managed thousands, Dan will live forever in my memories and I will always smile! 

Moving to NYC was scary for this native Californian. Dan made my time in NYC some of the best times-EVER! Dan and Patti; the love of his life, made me feel welcome. Attending their nuptials was special and one of the best weddings ever!!  I felt so honored to share in their love. 

Dan, thank you for being my friend. 
Thank you for being you!!

Worked with Dan at the sports club la. This was post yankee parade! Dan was a Great guy. Always happy and really funny. And his bday was a day after mine! Sad to hear of the news. I know he loved his family dearly. Wishing them lots of strength throughout the incredibly difficult time. Rest In Peace Dan.

This box is not enough space for all the memories. But one of my favorite memories is Dan always starting trouble with the Parking Lot guys at Camelback. Once there was a giant snowball fight IN the rental shop. Another time they filled the vehicles with snow. Another time we used the lunch trays as sleds... Dan made this job more like a day at a fun house. You never knew what would happen next. Dan will always be a part of me. I learned the best work ethic from Dan! 

I worked with Dan at JCC Rockland for years. His sense of fun was unmatched. He was a wonderful guy and his memory is truly a blessing.

I was introduced to Dan by my wife some time in the late 1990s 
Went out a few times, he was always a blast to hang out with. One day outside our apartment here comes this guy walking down our street. What do you know it’s Dan Downey. We start talking and find out he lives around the corner from us. He tells us he has to move his  roommate is leaving. This conversation goes from we haven’t spoke in a while to we are moving in with this guy. I didn’t know him that well, but for what I did know about him he was a great guy. That is the way he will always be to us. Just an easy going kindhearted person. Living with Dan was a once in a life time experience, he always had a big smile on his face an introduced us to people just like him such as Patty, Matt, Joe, Chris Ann, and Mark to name a few. We will never forget you Dan and the great times we had together.

I have known and worked with Dan for a long time and I can not say that there was ever a day that he didnt make me laugh.  The picture below was one of the best outtings I had with what we called ourselves "The Cool Group".  We went onto have many adventures but the Yankee Parade was the best!  It was my first time on the Staten Island Ferry where Dan made sure to tell us all how great it was to be a New Yorker!  I will miss you dearly friend.
