Catherine was born in Brooklyn, NY, to Anne and James Henry on December 28, 1927. After graduating from St. Brendan Academy, Catherine was an administrative assistant with Texaco in the Chrysler Building in New York City, a position she returned to years later after raising her children.
Catherine married the love of her life George Howe on February 18, 1950, which was the beginning of an unconditional love affair that lasted for 56 years. They were blessed with four children, six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
The source of Catherine and George’s enduring love was their faith in God and devotion to their Catholic faith. Catherine’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and keeping up with the details of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives.
Catherine was predeceased by her parents, Anne and James Henry, her husband, George F. Howe and her brother, James Henry. She is survived by her sisters, Marie Jaskiewicz and Maureen Lillis (Tom); her four children George F. Howe Jr.(Anita); Kathleen Bennett (Jim), Margaret Davis (Mark) and Timothy Howe (Patricia).
She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Meghan Aragao (Wesley), John Davis (Susie), Jillian Rooney (Kris), Laura, Jacqueline, and Sarah Howe; in addition, ten great-grandchildren: Rhys, Luca, Faith, Levi, Abel and Milo Aragao, Colin, Grace, and Oliver Davis, and Caden Rooney.
Visitation will be held at Higgins Funeral Home, New City, NY on Tuesday, September 15th from 2pm-6pm. A celebration of Catherine’s life will be held at St. Paul’s Church, Congers, on Wednesday, September 16th at 10am. Please note, due to the current circumstances, masks and social distancing are mandatory.
The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all the kind and wonderful people who supported and provided assistance to our mother in the last years of her life, especially but not exclusively, Kathy Sullivan, Rose, Tina, Michelle, Portia and the very devoted Sisters and staff at Dowling Gardens. You all will be in our prayers and have our best wishes forever.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 3704, Memphis, Tennessee 38101.
