Brandon Smith, 17, passed away Monday, February 27, 2017 at his home in New City. He was born February 2, 2000 in Suffern, NY. He leaves behind his parents Kenny and Christine Smith and older brother Dylan who cherished him.
Brandon was predeceased by his grandparents; Babs Fager, and Jimmy and Peggy Smith. Brandon was the light in the lives of his many aunts and uncles; Bill Fager, Tracy (Dan) Fenyo, Debbie (Joe) Conway, Kevin (Caitlin) Smith, Christine (Pete) Tangerman, and Stephen Smith. Brandon shared a special connection with each of his cousins who loved him dearly; Devin, Erin and Dan Fenyo, Matthew and Sean Carter, Kelli and Ryan Smith, and Kate and Megan Tangerman. He also leaves behind many friends whose lives have been forever changed because of the special bond they had with him.
Brandon was a junior at Clarkstown North High School. He was a member of the Clarkstown Varsity Bowling team since his freshman year. Brandon spent many hours practicing at New City Bowl, where he was also employed. His passion and devotion to the game of bowling was unparalleled. Over his seven year bowling career Brandon received many awards and accolades. Brandon wowed everyone by bowling a perfect game at the state championship in Cheektowaga last March, an extremely rare achievement. While there are too many accomplishments to list, most notably Brandon was named Rockland County’s USBC Junior Bowler of the year in 2016, Journal News Junior Bowler of the Year, a two-time MVP for Clarkstown Varsity team, as well as a three-time Junior Gold qualifier.
Brandon will not only be remembered by his love of bowling, but by his beautiful smile, love of music, dancing, and the way he made everyone feel special and loved. He will always be in our hearts. We would like to thank everyone for the overwhelming outpour of love and generosity.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 5th from 2-8pm at Higgins Funeral Home, 321 S. Main Street, New City, NY 10956. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 6th at 10 am at St. Augustine’s, 140 Maple Ave., New City, NY 10956. Interment will follow at the Rockland Cemetery.
