Barbara Janik Carney

Barbara Janik Carney, Congers, NY, 68 years old, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July, 17, 2023. Barbara was born in the Bronx on May 28, 1955 to Darius and Dunia Janik. She graduated from The High School of Art and Design in Manhattan and studied art and architecture at various times in the years following.

Barbara was a talented artist and her love for art translated beautifully to anything she created. She enjoyed cooking, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved animals, books and puzzles but got so much joy from her family.

She is survived by her husband, (James Carney), daughter (Lauren Ledford), son-in-law (Kenny Ledford), stepdaughter (Jamey Carney) and grandchildren (Greyson, Emilia and Michaela). She is also survived by her two sisters, two brothers, many nieces, nephews, as well grandnieces and grandnephews—all who will miss her dearly.

Family will receive friends on Thursday from 4-8pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass will be held on Friday, 10am at St. Paul’s Church, Congers. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven, Hawthorne on
