Ann was born on October 23, 1936, at home in New York, NY to Catherine O’Sullivan Fenton and Patrick Fenton. She was raised by a single mother, who worked numerous jobs in order to support the family. Ann graduated from St. Nicholas of Tolentine Grammar School and High School, in the Bronx.
On January 30, 1965, Ann married John(Jack) Dwyer. Ann and Jack moved to New City in 1966, where they raised four sons. When her youngest entered grammar school, Ann enrolled at Rockland County Community College and received her Associates Degree in Nursing in 1982. She then enrolled at SUNY New Paltz and received her B.S. in Nursing in 1988, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She worked for Rockland County at the Summit Park Hospital Nursing Home and retired as a Nursing Supervisor in 1999.
Ann was strongly involved in her faith and community. She was a dedicated parishioner of St. Augustine’s Church in New City, a former member of West Nyack II Senior Citizens Club, and a former board member of The West Nyack Swim Club.
Ann is survived by her husband, Jack, and her four sons: John (Jennifer), Joe (Kathleen), Jim (Sue), and Kieran (Tanya). She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren: Jack, Catie, Brayden, Owen, Chloe, Elizabeth, Danny, Brian, Megan, Jimmy, Michael, Grace, Luke, Aidan, Krista, Kayla, and Pierce. In addition, Ann is survived by her brother, Patrick, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ann was predeceased by her parents, Catherine and Patrick, and her sister, Catherine.
Ann’s family will receive friends on Monday, August 8th from 4pm-7pm at the Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in New City. The funeral mass will be at 10am on Tuesday, August 9th, at St. Augustine’s Church in New City, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made in Ann’s honor to St. Augustine’s parish.
