William John Carroll, 84, widower of Veronica (Bonczek) Carroll since 2001, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 12, 2019, with family by his side. He was born in New Britain, son to the late Joseph F. and Alice (Osakowicz) Carroll. William proudly served in the U.S. Army and had been employed by the New Britain Police Dept. for 25 years.
He enjoyed sports, especially watching the UCONN Women's basketball games. He also enjoyed Polish and Irish traditions.
He will be remembered for always being there for his family, attending sporting events, especially supporting his grandchildren whenever he could.
He is survived and will be dearly missed by his children, Kathleen Carroll of Torrington, Maureen Bernacki and her husband Joseph of Newington, Kevin Carroll (owner and operator of Central CT Auto, of New Britain) and his wife Amy of Berlin, his precious grandchildren: Krystin and Kaitlyn Bernacki, Patrick and Nicholas Carroll and John Palmisano, his siblings: sister Ann Raia, brothers Joseph, Thomas, John and his wife Dorine Carroll all of New Britain and sister in law Mary Ann Carroll of San Diego and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was predeceased by brothers, Edward and Richard and sister, Mary Carroll.
Funeral services will begin Friday, May 17, 2019 at 8:30am at New Britain Memorial & Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, followed by the funeral liturgy at 9:30am in Sacred Heart Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
